Conometric Prosthesis

Course Overview:

Until a few years ago, we only had cemented or screwed solutions for fixed implant-supported restoration.
Conometric prosthesis is a new kind of fixed prosthesis retention without any screw or cement between abutment and prosthesis.

This technique show severals advantages for both, patients and dentist , in order to prevent and to manage the biological complications . The aim of this course is to give the precise surgical and prosthetic protocol step by step, in different edentulous situations: single , partial or full arch; with less time consuming and less cost furthermore, this course will permit to know the method to activate and to disactivate the conometric friction between conometric abutment and prosthesis, in order to insert and remove easily the prosthesis.

This is one of the most important advantage since the removal of prosthesis sometimes is mandatory in order to clean e to probe the perimplant soft tissue.

Currently peri-implant disease represents a common finding among patients with dental implants.
Pre-existing peri-implant mucositis in conjunction with lack of adherence to SPT is associated with a higher incidance of peri-implantitis. Therapy of peri-implant mucositis should be considered as a preventive measure for the onset of peri-implantitis.

Actually, also data on both in vitro and clinical performance of conometric retention are available, to confirm such trend on alternative of implant-supported restoration.
